PURPOSE / GOALS:
There is a wealth of mental health
information available on the internet. Unfortunately most of this information is
unorganized and difficult to find. Even with advances in search engines (like Yahoo
and Alta Vista) it would be difficult to find all the potential resources available in any
specific area. The current site will resolve this problem by presenting a list of
available mental health resources in Mississippi, broken down by county. An effort
will be made produce a comprehensive list, with sufficient detail to permit rapid and convenient comparison of
services which are available locally.
This site is intended to be an
improvement over typical "yellow page" listings in that it will provide more detailed descriptions of types of services
offered, and do so at a fraction of the cost of a yellow page listing. This site
will also permit continuous updates as they are needed, compared to typical yellow page lists which are only
updated once per year.
We intend to make every effort to keep
this database up to date. This effort will be time consuming and expensive.
Therefore, we strongly encourage our professional users to support this effort by becoming
sponsors... and having detailed descriptions of your services posted here. We hope
that all users will contribute to this effort by notifying the authors of any errors or
updates you may find in this database.
The authors are promoting this site by
actively contacting individuals and agencies throughout the state, making them aware of the detailed referral
information available here. We have submitted "keywords" to the various
internet search engines so that this site can be easily found by customers searching such
topics as ....
+Mississippi AND +"mental health"
The official launch date for this site
was April 30, 1997. The site is hosted by at its permanent commercial
site: http://www.msresource.com
The Mississippi Mental Health
Resources site functions as an independent commercial service on the internet. This
service does not represent, and is not maintained, by any government agency or group.
Since complicated
graphics tend to slow down an internet connection, the content of these pages will
primarily be limited to text. Return to Main Index Page

service provider and for verifying his or her competence through consultation with the
respective licensure or certification agency, if applicable.
We will make every reasonable effort
to provide accurate information about local service providers, and will promptly correct
any errors or make updates to this database as new information becomes available. We
will limit our responsibility to correcting any erroneous or outdated information posted
at this site.
Authors of the Mississippi Mental
Health Resources site reserve the right to remove any descriptive information which is
believed to be false, misleading, or which appears to violate reasonable ethical
standards.
In the event that a
commercial sponsor of this site decides to terminate his/her support, or in the event that
the site administrators are obliged to remove a questionable service description, that
customer's yearly sponsorship fee will be promptly refunded on a prorated basis from the
date that a request for termination is received. Any commercial sponsor who
voluntarily withdraws support for the site may continue to be listed in the non-commercial
service provider section of the site. Return to Main Index Page
SPONSORSHIP / FEES: (To apply for services, use the
form below.)
Currently there is no plan to charge
for consumer access to information in the Mississippi Mental Health Resources database or
for listing of each provider's name, profession, address, phone number, and a brief
listing of primary interest/expertise areas.
We offer the option of including
a more detailed description of services through a hypertext "link" at this
site. This detailed description is presented in a standardized format, making it
easier for customers to compare services. The fee for this FULL PAGE description of services is only $95
per year. This fee will help offset the cost of maintaining, expanding, updating,
and advertising the database. (Note that this is very inexpensive when
compared to "yellow page" listings, which cost about $240 per year to list only
the business name and phone number!)
If desired, sponsors will have
the option of "linking" from this detailed description to an independent
"home page."
We offer consultation to mental health
professionals or organizations/agencies who want help in creating their own "home page" or an entire "web site." (A web site is basically a series of web pages that are linked
together.) Publishing an independent home page or web site will provide the most
flexibility in how professional services are presented to potential
clients/patients. For example, this option will enable professionals to post their
entire VITA or resume on a web
home page. The fee for home page or web site construction is $60 per hour.
There is no additional charge to "full page" sponsors for hosting a basic
information-oriented web page at our site (with some size restrictions), but a minimum $10
fee will be charged for changes/updates to personal web pages when such changes are
requested by the sponsor.
Finally, the host of the MMHR site offers technical support/ consultation for such hardware and software
problems as setting up your internet connection; upgrading CPU's, memory chips, modems,
sound cards, CD's, hard drives, printers, etc.....; installation problems, drivers,
configuration problems, and many of those annoying unexplained computer crashes. We
strongly recommend trying to resolve problems by first reading the computer manuals or
calling the "official" technical support line for each product. However,
when this doesn't help (or you get tired of waiting on hold <grin>) our fees for
support are:
